Dr. Heidi M. Williams is an Associate Professor specializing in Rhetoric and Composition in the Department of听
. Since starting at TSU in 2012, Dr.听Williams听has taught several lower-division and upper-division writing courses. In her ENGL 1010 and 1020 courses, students will find an energetic and creative environment that encourages students to read closely, think critically, and write confidently for a variety of audiences and purposes. In her Technical Writing courses, students explore ways technology influences writing through various multimodal projects. Students also research their potential job fields and leave the course with a business portfolio ready to present to future employers.
Dr.听Williams听has presented at several national and international conferences, participated in a dozen grant projects, and is currently working on a book titled听Professors Who Homeschool: Expertise, Theory, and Practice. This collection explores the intersections of academic expertise, pedagogical innovation, and personal experiences from college professors across various disciplines who shape and design homeschool education for their children. Outside of the institution, Dr.听Williams听homeschools her two children and is heavily involved in the homeschool community. Dr.听Williams听is the academic advisor for TSU鈥檚 Alpha Alpha Eta chapter of Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society and serves on the national executive board as the听 . With the help of student scholars in 危韦螖, Dr.听Williams听founded Little Tigers Read, a family literacy initiative designed for kids in K-3rd. As our community outreach project, we promote literacy in Metro Nashville to young people who we hope will aspire to become future TSU Tigers.
