Biographical Sketch 听

Derek is a software engineer, functional programming enthusiast, and amateur historian. As a graduate research and teaching assistant at Purdue, he taught Computer Science courses including Intro to Java Programming, C/C++ Programming, Operating Systems, and Distributed Systems. After graduating from Purdue with an M.S. in Computer Science in 2017, he started work as a data engineer at HCA Healthcare, working to create stream processing solutions to bring data-driven signals to caregivers and physicians. He also has published several papers in the areas of replication and cluster scheduling.
